Monday was Labor day, but I had gone to work anyway, because some numbers on the playground badly needed to be repainted. When it was time to come home, I placed my hand in each of my pants’ pockets, searching for my car’s keys. All other keys were there, but not the one to the Duskymobile. I shook my head in disbelief as I searched in my pockets. Key not found. I looked in places where I had been at Jefferson, and it still was lost. I had nothing left to do, but to call home from a pay-phone and have Laprima or my father bring me a spare key.

Because I was frustrated about having lost a key, and because I was tired of having worked under the sun, there was nothing I wanted more at that moment than being able to drink a big ‘ole soda. And this would have been an even better feast if I would drink it as I enjoyed a meal at the Mexican fast-food restaurant near Jefferson. I went in the restaurant and only bought water. I had to settle with having had the scent, this was my first day dieting.

So, yes, for the past six days I’ve been more careful of what I eat. I’m trying to eat less, and also trying to replace soda with a healthy liquid people call water. Eating after 5pm has also become a no-no. So far, I have eaten in lesser amounts per sitting, and I’ve been sitting to eat with less frequency. I have not had even a sip of soda, and only twice have I had a meal after 5pm.

I don’t know if my sacrifice is paying off or not, but it’s my plan to maintain my current plans until January 1st, 2004. But when January 1st comes, nothing will stop me from enjoying a 2-liter bottle of soda, my reward. 🙂 And if nobody is looking, I might even make love to the thing! 😀
